STEREOSCOPIC IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND STEREOSCOPIC IMAGE FORMING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image forming apparatus and stereoscopic image forming method which enable a use to feel stereoscopic images as if the spuriously higher stereoscopic images exist when touching the images by fingertips etc., relating to the stereoscopic images formed by a stereoscopic image forming means based on the stereoscopic image information.

SOLUTION: The stereoscopic image forming apparatus is equipped with an image processing means for converting stereoscopic image information including gradient information to image formation information and a stereoscopic image forming means for forming the stereoscopic images on a recording medium based on the image formation information. The image processing means is configured to convert the gradient information to level difference section information forming a plurality of level difference sections of acute height changes existing apart prescribed spacings from each other and flat section information for forming flat sections (planes or gentle slopes) of gentle height changes following to the top end or bottom end of the level difference section of the next level from the bottom end or the top end of the level difference section of the previous level.
