PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the efficiency of recovery work and the shortening of a drying treatment time while preventing the mixture of sludge with foreign matter. SOLUTION: A drying bed 10 includes a drain bed 16 and also has a drain port 15 provided to the bottom part thereof. The drain bed 16 is formed of a lower gravel layer 2A and an upper sand layer 2B by successively charging gravel and coarse sand in the drying bed 10. After a nonwoven fabric 20 made of polyester, which prevents the passage of a solid substance and permits the passage of water, is laid on the upper surface of the drain bed 16, concentrated sludge 3 with a high water content is charged on the nonwoven fabric 20. The nonwoven fabric 20 is wider than the upper surface of the drain bed 16 and the edge part of the nonwoven fabric 20 is exposed so as to leave space 21 at the time of charging of the concentrated sludge 3. After the water content of sludge 3 lowers, the sludge 3 is transferred to a concrete floor 18 with a high evaporation capacity using the nonwoven fabric 20 and dried.
