<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent warping of a diffusing plate generated when lighting a backlight device. <P>SOLUTION: In the backlight device with a light source 2 arranged inside a case 1 of a shallow box shape and with a square diffusing plate 3 made of resin arranged in front of the light source 2, nearly a middle position of each of opposing long sides of the diffusing plate 3 is locked to the case 1, and at the same time, opposing short sides of the diffusing plate 3 are curved forward and locked to positions protruded by a suitable distance forward from the middle position. Further, it is also possible to have a middle part of each of the four sides of the diffusing plate 3 locked to the case 1, and at the same time, to have each corner part of the diffusing plate 3 curved forward and locked to a position protruded by a suitable distance forward from the middle position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
