PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor for detecting the movement of the information processor even when a main power source is turned off, and for turning on a main power source after the movement is detected in order to improve operability for an authorized carrier, and to make it difficult for an unauthorized carrier to release warning and a method for preventing the theft of the information processor. SOLUTION: This information processor and a method for preventing the theft of the information processor is characterized in that an acceleration sensor 8 installed in an information processor 1 detects the movement of the information processor 1, and a power source control part 6 turns on the main power source of the information processor 1 based on the movement detection signal from the acceleration sensor 8, and a warning generating means 4 generates warning when the factor of the turning-on of the main power source is based on the movement detection signal.
