PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear actuator capable of locking a piston with a simple structure and releasing the lock with simple operation even if a hydraulic power source fails. SOLUTION: Instead of a conventional linear actuator, a groove part is provided behind an inner circumference wall of a cylinder and a piston is provided with a lock ram slidable in a radial direction and a cam rod having a profile changing from a small diameter part to a large diameter part as it transits from back to front. An inner end of the lock ram is abutted to the profile, the cam rod is energized rearward by a spring, and the cam rod can be raised up forward by the push rod. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
