A seed sowing machine has a hopper (11) and seed sowing shares (14) with a device to control the flow to each share in measured quantities. The seed outlets and the shares extend over the whole width of the machine. The machine is equipped with a roller (3) which also extends over the width of the machine and compresses the soil before the seed furrows are formed. This roller is formed from a row of rubber tyres placed side by side.
