<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of output ports for outputting a selection signal to a connected optional instrument and to reduce the number of signal conductors for outputting a control signal to the optional instrument in an image forming apparatus main body to which a plurality of optional instruments are connected. <P>SOLUTION: In a main body part, an oscillation signal generation part 111 generates the oscillation signal of resonance frequency inherent to the resonance circuit of each optional instrument and outputs it to the respective optional instruments 130A to 130D. When resonance detection parts 133A to 133D detect that the resonance circuits 131A to 131D resonate in the optional instruments 130A to 130D, CPUs 135A to 135D transmit a READY signal to the main body part 200 side and control the operation of the optional instrument based on the control signal inputted from the main body part side after detecting the resonance. In the main body part 200, when a driving control part 110 receives the READY signal from the CPUs 135A to 135D of the optional instrument, it starts the control of the optional instrument which transmits the READY signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
