<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide bipolar forceps permitting securely performing treatment by electrification while a tissue is clasped with a pair of jaws which can be opened/closed and easily performing treatment by electrification while the pair of jaws are closed and pressed on the tissue. <P>SOLUTION: The bipolar forceps 10 comprises a slender insertion part 12 to be inserted into a human body, a treatment part 14 disposed at the distal end of the insertion part 12, and an operation part 16 disposed at the base end of the insertion part 12. The treatment part 14 has a pair of jaws 32a and 32b to be opened/closed for grasping a living tissue. The jaws 32a and 32b are opened/closed by the operation of the operation part 16, and a gap γ is formed between grasping faces 38a and 38b of the jaws 32a and 32b.
