<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a 2-oxazolidinone from aβ-aminoalcohol in a high yield in excellent operability. <P>SOLUTION: Aβ-aminoalcohol is reacted with phosgene in a two phase-based solvent composed of a nitrile and water to produce a 2-oxazolidinone. An aliphatic nitrile such as butyronitrile or isobutyronitrile is suitably used as the nitrile solvent.
