PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant resin composition having high flame retardancy and excellent mechanical characteristics, and to provide a molded product by using the same. SOLUTION: This flame-retardant resin composition contains 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin component (A), 0.01-0.6 pt.wt. of a crosslinkig agent, 0-1.8 pts.wt. of an auxiliary crosslinking agent, and 50-300 pts.wt. of a metal hydrate (B) and is formed by heating/kneading the components at a temperature higher than a melting point of the thermoplastic resin component (A), wherein the thermoplastic resin component (A) comprises (a) a thermoplastic polyolefin resin of peroxide decomposition type, (b) a thermoplastic polyolefin resin of peroxide crosslink type [including (f) a copolymer of a polyene compound-containing olefin], and (c) a non-aromatic softening agent for rubber and a prescribed amount of the metal hydrate (B) is pre-treated with a silane coupling agent.
