PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary power unit, a fixing device, an image forming apparatus, and a charging operation control method capable of charging the maximum amount while deviation in a charging amount is suppressed in the charging process for charging a plurality of capacitors. SOLUTION: There are provided a capacitor CPa, a charger 203a which receives power supply from a commercial source and charges the capacitor CPa, a capacitor CPb connected in series to the capacitor CPa, a charger 203b which receives power supply from the commercial source and charges the capacitor CPb, a detection circuit 232 for detecting both end voltages of the capacitors CPa and CPb, and a control means for controlling switching of charging operation between the chargers CPa and CPb upto a final target voltage on the basis of the detection result of the detection circuit 232.
