A demountable flagpole especially for promotional flags for either indoor or outdoor application has the pole assembled from interlocking flexible sections (4 to 7) which are located into the pocket of the flag (10). The bottom of the flag is secured to the mounting and provides the tension to hold the pole section together. The flag can be held in a display mode by a bottom tensioning bar (14) of by a tie line between the base and the top of the mast. This enables the flag to be displayed when there is no wind, e.g. indoors.
