<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device which has high radiation light intensity and high luminance, by preventing the light of a light-emitting element from being repeatedly reflected by an inner peripheral surface of a reflecting member or totally reflected by an interface of a phosphor layer. <P>SOLUTION: This light-emitting device is equipped with a base body 1 which has a mounting part for a light emitting element 3 on the top surface of a projection 1a, the reflecting member 2, and the phosphor layer 4 which is provided forming a gap with the light-emitting element 3. In the inner peripheral surface of the reflecting member 2, the sectional shape of a section crossing an upper main surface of the base body 1 at right angles is a curved surface, represented by Z=(cr<SP>2</SP>)/[1+ä1-(1+k)c<SP>2</SP>r<SP>2</SP>}<SP>1/2</SP>] (providing that -10≤k≤-0.001 and 0.001≤c≤10), where Z represents the height from the lower end of the inner peripheral surface 2a and (r) represents the radius of the internal size. Further, the angle θ<SB>1</SB>, between the line connecting the corner of a light emission of the light-emitting element 3 and the upper end of the inner peripheral surface 2a which faces the corner, is ≥90°-sin<SP>-1</SP>(1/n<SB>1</SB>), where n<SB>1</SB>is the refractive index of the phosphor layer 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
