PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless telephone set capable of excellently determining whether or not the wireless telephone set exists in the vicinity of a user. SOLUTION: A slave unit 30 of a facsimile machine notifies the user of the arrival of a call according with a ringtone outputted from a loudspeaker 36, uses a tilt sensor 37 to determine whether or not the slave unit 30 is in a still state, and a charging base sensing circuit 52 determines whether or not the slave unit 30 is placed on a charging base. When the determination indicates that the slave unit 30 is not in the still state and the slave unit 30 is not placed on the charging base, the unit 30 changes a tone volume of the ringtone to a minimum value. Thus, whether or not the slave unit 30 exists in the vicinity of the user can excellently be determined and it is prevented that the ringtone injures the user's ears of the slave unit 30.
