PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition usable for forming a surface layer having a high surface smoothness and surface glossiness, and enabling a desired color tone to be sufficiently exhibited without damaging conventional basic characteristics as a decorative sheet, on the decorative sheet; and to provide a material for the surface layer of the decorative sheet and the decorative sheet, using the resin composition. SOLUTION: The resin composition for the decorative sheet, usable for forming the surface layer on a design face side of the decorative sheet contains a curable resin and an inorganic filler. The material for the surface layer of the decorative sheet is obtained by applying the resin composition to one or both of the surface of a paper fiber base material and the surface of a curable resin-impregnated paper fiber base material. The decorative sheet is obtained by laminating the material for the surface layer of the decorative sheet on the surface side of a material for the decorative sheet including a material for a core material, and subjecting the laminated product to a hot and pressure forming, and has the surface layer on the design face side.
