PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing an inexpensive rubber-modified styrene resin composition which is excellent in gloss and impact resistance. SOLUTION: This method for preparing the rubber-modified styrene resin composition comprises a step wherein an aromatic vinyl monomer is polymerized in the presence of a tetrafunctional organic peroxide and a raw material rubbery polymer which is a polybutadiene rubber. Here, a 5 wt.% styrene solution of the raw material rubbery polymer shows a solution viscosity of 120-250 cps at 25°C, and the amounts of the raw material rubbery polymer and the organic peroxide added are 5-20 wt.% and 100-300 wt.ppm, respectively, based on the total weight of the aromatic vinyl monomer to be polymerized and the raw material rubbery polymer. The obtained rubber-modified styrene resin composition contains 0.01-0.2 wt.% silicone oil and comprises a dispersed particle of the rubbery polymer having a salami structure and a weight average particle size of 0.2-0.7μm and a styrene resin matrix having a Mw of 200,000-300,000 and a Mz of 320,000-520,000.
