<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a user interface easy to operate when playing data are converted into playing data for a playing style sampling type sound source generating a sound with a timbre corresponding to a playing style. <P>SOLUTION: Timbres of respective channels (ch1, ch2, ...) of the playing data are detected and timbre names Tn1 are displayed. Playing styles by the channels are detected and algorithms and timbres after conversion which are suitable to the playing styles and timbres before conversion are retrieved; when recommended ones are found, algorithm names An and timbre names Tn2 are stored as candidates and check switches Csw of corresponding channels are displayed. When no recommended ones are found, the check switches Csw are not displayed and made ineffective.
