<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a foamed product excellent in non-combustibility, weight reduction, nonhygroscopicity, and heat insulating properties, without emitting a harmful gas in a fire, by using an inorganic filling material as a main component and further using a non-halogen organic material, through a foaming technique in which an isocyanate is contacted with water and reacted therewith so as to form a gas atmosphere. <P>SOLUTION: A method for producing the foamed product comprises mixing the isocyanate into an elastomer resin, such as a nitrile-butadiene rubber, and the inorganic filling material, such as magnesium hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide, and calcium carbonate, to obtain a mixture, kneading the mixture, and then pressurizing and heating the kneaded mixture to obtain a compound, feeding the compound into a mold cavity having a suitable number of small holes, and putting the cavity into water, so that the isocyanate contained as a component is hydrolyzed to form the gas atmosphere of carbon dioxide and nitrogen, as a result of penetration of the water into the compound, the compound is expanded by the formed gas atmosphere, and therefore, a closed-cell foamed product having the non-combustibility or flame retardancy is molded.
