PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a riding type seedling planting machine designed to perform good planting of seedlings in planting operation, etc., while climbing a levee slope with a steep slope. SOLUTION: The riding type seedling planting machine is equipped with a lifting and lowering controlling means for controlling lifting and lowering of a seedling planting device 3 so that the shaking posture of a ground contact sensor 13M installed in the seedling planting device 3 freely liftably and lowerably connected through a lifting and lowering link mechanism 2 to a riding type traveling car body 1 is within the tolerance of the preset reference posture relatively to the seedling planting device 3. The riding type seedling planting machine is provided with a correcting means for correcting the reference posture of the ground contact sensor 13M to the front lowering direction with increasing tilt angle in the front rising direction by detection with a tilt sensor KS for detecting the tilt angle of the riding type traveling car body 1 or the seedling planting device 3 in the front and rear directions. When the correcting means corrects the reference posture of the ground contact sensor 13M to the front lowering side rather than the front lowering limit posture of the ground contact sensor 13M, the correcting means is composed so as not to carry out lifting control of the seedling planting device 3 with the lifting and lowering control means.
