PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming an electrode of a flat display panel for attaining mass production and low cost and suppressing dispersion in the shape of the electrode. SOLUTION: A reducing agent 54 is discharged for patterning by the ink jet method in a groove between partitions 50a and 50b of a glass substrate 50 formed by sandblasting method, that is, a desired region where an electrode is formed (Fig.d). After fixing the reducing agent 54 on the glass substrate 50, the whole of the substrate is immersed in a plating catalyst metal solution 55, and thus a plating catalyst metal 56 contained in a plating catalyst metal solution 55 is reduced and deposited in the region where the reducing agent 54 is fixed (Fig.e). The whole of the substrate is immersed in an electroless plating solution 57, and thus a metal 58 is deposited in the region where the plating catalyst metal 56 is deposited using the electroless plating method (Fig.f).
