PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave device having a characteristic with a ripple component suppressed therein. SOLUTION: The surface acoustic wave device comprises a surface acoustic wave resonator having an interdigital electrode 10 and reflection electrodes 12, 14 arranged at both the sides of the electrode 10. The respective reflection electrodes 12, 14 are provided with at least two different cyclesλa1-λan andλb1-λbn. For example, the respective reflection electrodes are divided in two, so as to define the cycles (wave length) of one division part asλa1,λb1 and the cycles of the other division part asλa2(≠λa1),λb2(≠λb1).
