PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video endoscope system with a simple structure which is easily operated at a low cost. SOLUTION: The video endoscope system is equipped with an endoscope optical system 2 and a camera portion 3 having a camera housing 15, an image aditus window 18, and an optical exit window 19, and a binding apparatus capable of locking not to race the end portion housing and the camera housing. The end portion housing has a cylinder, and the camera housing has a bore 16 fitting to the cylinder, and the above windows are arranged to the end wall 11 of the cylinder and the bottom wall 17 of the bore. The endoscope optical system 2 comprises a shaft 4 through which the optical image transmitter 5 and a fiber-made optical transmitter 6 pass, and an end portion housing 7 having an image exit window 10 and an optical aditus window 8 which are fixed to the proximal end of the shaft and have the irradiation direction parallel to the axis line of the shaft.
