The assembly has an electromotor driven impeller, with the drive located inside the wheel hub (1) and an axle piece (4) protruding axially over the hub. An adapter device can be fastened detachably to the frame of the wheelchair and has a recess (7), designed so that the axle piece can be inserted into it in a radial direction. The axle piece is provided with a quick-acting tension device (11) for attachment of the impeller.
