PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring unit and a monitoring system, capable of estimating the internal state of a subject even if the subject who can not easily express the subject's intentions is monitored. SOLUTION: The monitoring unit is for monitoring an infant 1 on a stroller 10. The monitoring unit comprises a heart beat/respiration sensor 22 and a monitor part 26. The heart beat/respiration sensor 22 obtains either the information on the heart rate or the information on the respiration rate of the infant 1.
