PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pan head device that can change the direction of an imaging unit by an inexpensive driving means of minimum size without increasing the size of a motor nor varying the gear ratio like a conventional example. SOLUTION: The pan head device which supports the imaging unit 5 on a pan head by a holding member 6 and rotates the imaging unit in pan/tilt directions by an electrically driving device has assist means (7a, 7b) for the electrically driving device, and the assist means compensates for actuation torque of the electrically driving device in a state wherein a load is placed by the weight balance etc., of the imaging unit.
