PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foldable portable appliance with a camera excellent in operability and visibility in which even an imaging camera including an optical photographing section with a comparatively long full length of an optical system can be installed without providing any special imaging camera installation space. SOLUTION: In a portable appliance 1 where an upper case 10 and a lower case 20 are connected to freely turn around a hinge axial center 5 and an imaging camera 40 is installed along the hinge axial center 5, the imaging camera 40 comprises a photographing window 32 which takes in an incident light from an object, a deflecting element 56 for deflecting the incident light from the photographing window 32, and an optical imaging unit 41 including lens sections 46, 48 as well as an imaging device 54 on an optical imaging axis 3 and a zooming mechanism for moving the lens sections in parallel with an extending direction of the hinge axial center. The incident light from the photographing window 32 is deflected by the deflecting element 56, then converged in the lens sections of the optical imaging unit 41 and imaged on the imaging device.
