<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor and a channel structure permitting efficient utilization of generated heat in reaction of reactants. <P>SOLUTION: The modifying unit 5 has a body 501 of a reactor having an inside space and a channel structure 502 housed in the body 501. The channel structure 502 is based on a carbon type board 505. Two or more through holes 506 are formed in the board 505, and the areas 510 and 511 within the body 501 are connected through the holes 506. The surface layer of the board 505 supports catalyst ingredients.
