PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a metal strip thickness, which can eliminate a thickness deviation resulting from a physical phenomenon to which the mass flow principle does not apply, when using a mass flow gauge.
SOLUTION: In the method, a mass flow gauge value (ho1), that is the thickness of the metal strip leaving a rolling unit, is calculated from the thickness (hi) and velocity (Vi) of the metal strip entering the rolling unit, and the velocity (Vo) of the metal strip leaving the rolling unit. Then an error (ho2) of the mass flow gauge value (ho1) is calculated in comparison with an value (ho) actually measured by an exit thickness gauge, and a value (ho3) obtained by subtracting the error (ho2) from the mass flow gauge value (ho1) is fed back to the rolling unit as the thickness of the strip leaving the rolling unit.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
|
