PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a magnetic head by which track width can be highly accurately narrowed, in particular, control can be performed so that film thickness and composition of a magnetic layer and a yoke layer are made uniform, and the throughput can be improved. SOLUTION: When the magnetic layer is formed, only both sides of the magnetic layer being a main magnetic pole layer are regulated and other parts are subjected to plating-growth without being regulated at all. Thus, the magnetic layer can be plated in a very wide region, so that even in a plating forming part of the regulated magnetic layer, entering and leaving of plating liquid can be performed good equally as in the other regions and stirring effect or the like of the plating liquid in formation of plating of the magnetic layer can be improved. In this method, track width Tw of the main magnetic pole layer can be highly accurately formed, while control can be appropriately performed so that film thickness and composition of the main magnetic pole layer left on the plating formed plane lastly and of the yoke layer are made uniform, and further, the throughput can be improved more than before.
