PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a radiation image reader capable of properly coping with the change of a substantial signal range of read image data, which is accompanied with correction. SOLUTION: In the radiation image reader, correction data is generated from read data of a stimulable fluorescent plate (3) having a radiation image recorded therein without a subject (2), and read data is corrected by correction data when a subject image recorded in the stimulable fluorescent plate is read. The radiation image reader is provided with a correction restriction means (24) which restricts correction with correction data so that a dynamic range of image data after correction is within a dynamic range at the time of output.
