PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce burden applied to the fingers of a vehicle driver by large angle turning of a turning operation part of a vehicle steering in a transmission device for an internal combustion engine in which a plurality of pairs of gears constituting different gear ratio each other are provided on an input shaft and an output shaft, a group of gears provided on any one of the input shaft and the output shaft are fixed to a shaft, a group of gears provided on the other shaft is fitted onto the shaft, an engagement means for selectively engaging one of the group of gears axially moved and fitted on the other shaft is provided and transmission is performed through a turning linear motion conversion means for converting the turning of the turning operation part provided on the steering to the linear motion and moving the engagement means. SOLUTION: An intermittent feed mechanism for axially intermittently moving the engagement means is provided and is provided with a turning returning means turned every when intermittent feeding of one stage is generated and returned to an original position when the intermittent feeding of one stage is completed.
