PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for suppressing diffusion of dioxins in soil without polluting the soil with heavy metals. SOLUTION: A method for suppressing diffusion of the dioxins in which light burnt magnesia obtained by calcining magnesium carbonate at 800 to 900°C and then pulverizing to adjust mean particle diameter to 10 to 20μm is added to the soil containing the dioxins and then is mixed, is provided. Further a method for suppressing diffusion of the dioxins in which a material comprising 1 to 50 weight parts of gypsum to 100 weight parts of light burnt magnesia is added to the soil containing the dioxins and is mixed, is provided.
