<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-screen image display in which a light is made to emerge from a light-emerging surface of a lightguide plate toward the direction which is nearly parallel with the light outgoing surface, and an optimum structure is adopted to increase its light utilization efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A light that is made to outgo from a point light source 25 is spread surface-like, within a light guide plate 26, and the light is made to outgo from a top of the light guide plate 26 toward a direction which is nearly parallel with the top. On the top surface and the back surface of the lightguide plate 26, polarized matching plates 27, 28 for transmitting a light in the polarized direction, in parallel with the polarized transmittance axis, as well as for reflecting light in a polarized direction that is intersecting at right angles are arranged, respectively. The polarized transmittance axis of both the polarized matching plates 27, 28 intersect at right angles to each other. Further, on the polarization matching plate 27, a diffusion prism sheet 29 and a liquid crystal panel 22 are arranged, and under the polarization matching plate 28, a diffusing prism sheet 30 and a liquid crystal panel 24 are arranged. The diffusion prism sheets 29, 30 include a prism sheet 52 and a concave/convex diffusing plate 51 for bending light direction to the vertical direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
