<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that delay occurs by process completion from image signal input because in a conventional liquid crystal display apparatus, backlight cannot be controlled until a whole image feature quantity is extracted. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display apparatus is composed of a plurality of backlight light sources and a screen is divided with a pixel group which is arranged like each backlight optical source arrangement, as one region. By controlling brightness independently for each backlight light source based on brightness distribution of each divided region, according to the image data distribution in the screen, power consumption is effectively reduced without deteriorating an image quality and without extracting the image feature quantity for one screen. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
