PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the mountability of a V-cylinder internal combustion engine on a hybrid vehicle. SOLUTION: In this internal combustion engine, a cylinder block recessed groove 21 is formed in one end face 11A of a cylinder block 11, a water drain case 22 is fitted to an oil seal case body 14a so as to close the cylinder block recessed groove 21, and case side recessed groove 23 formed in the contact surface 22A of the water drain case 22 is abutted on the cylinder block recessed groove 21 oppositely to each other so as to form a flow passage 24 sealed in a sealed state. The internal combustion engine further comprises a communication hole 25 communicating with the recessed part at the top of a cylinder block 11 through the end part of the cylinder block 11 and opening to the upper end part of the flow passage 24 and a through hole 26 opening to the inside lower end part of the flow passage 24 and communicating with the outside of the V-cylinder internal combustion engine.
