PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a configuration to a wireless communication apparatus provided with a plurality of antennas whereby an antenna capable of obtaining an excellent reception level can correctly be selected. SOLUTION: The wireless communication apparatus 100 is provided with the antennas 1a, 1b. A variable gain amplifier 4 amplifies a signal received via the antenna 1a or 1b. An AGC circuit 5 controls the gain of the variable gain amplifier 4. A diversity control section 7 selects an antenna to be in use by monitoring the reception level of the antennas 1a, 1b at start of packet reception. The AGC circuit 5 fixes the gain of the variable gain amplifier 4 while the diversity control section 7 selects the antenna. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
