PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium quality paper for a book, having bulkiness (low density), hardly causing reduction of rigidity, having high friction coefficient and excellent printing processability. SOLUTION: The medium quality paper for the book having 0.20-0.60 dynamic friction coefficient is obtained by making a paper containing a paper quality-improving agent for internal filling, comprising a polymer emulsion containing (A) a natural cationic polymer and (B) polymer particles containing at least a constituent unit derived from a vinyl monomer.
