<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion exchange membrane for a fuel cell which is superior in gas barrier property, working property, dimensional stability, and ion conductivity. <P>SOLUTION: By synthesizing a polyarylene ether based compound into which sulfonic acid group that is useful as a polymer ion exchange membrane is introduced, that is, a polyarylene ether into which a benzonitrile structural unit is introduced along with 3,3'-disulfo-4,4'-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone structural unit in which the sulfonic acid group is introduced on an electron attracting aromatic ring, a polymer which has superior characteristics as an ion exchange membrane for the fuel cell is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
