PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll compactor with which compacts which have high bulk density, high strength or the like and have a homogenous quality are stably obtained. SOLUTION: A pair of rotary rolls 3a, 3b for compacting powder are made as a thing in which rotary body 7 is fit outside a rotary shaft 6, a metallic filter 8 is provided on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary body 7 and air passages 9a which are opened on the side of the inner peripheral surface of the metallic filter 8 are provided and the compacts which have the high bulk density, high strength or the like and have a homogeneous quality are stably obtained by sucking air from the respective outer peripheral surfaces of the rotary rolls 3a, 3b through the metallic filter 8 to the air passages 9a, 9b, 9c with a vacuum pump and deaerating the powder in roll bite which is at the point of time when the powder is truly compacted.
