PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dishwasher achieving an enlargement of a washing chamber on the inside of a machine body without enlarging the dishwasher and also achieving efficient washing of many dishes. SOLUTION: A pump P has an impeller 34 rotating around a perpendicular axis S in a pump housing 26. Washing water is sucked horizontally into the pump housing 26 through a water sucking part 44 based on rotation of the impeller 34. Thus, air is not sucked into the pump housing 26 together with the washing water sucked by the impeller 34. When the impeller 34 of the pump P (a motor M) rotates forward, the washing water in the pump P is supplied to the side of the washing chamber through a water supplying part 45.
