The invention relates to a polymer obtainable by polymerizing an alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer, a fluorinated alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer and optionally a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate monomer in the presence of a free radical initiator wherein the polymer contains between 15 and 60 % by weight of fluorine. The coating obtained by applying the polymer to a surface presents a very good compromise between hydrophobicity of the surface, increase in contact angle and adhesiveness to the surface of the substrate.
