Filling method and gripping device for a filling apparatus

The method for filling sacks (18) with bulk goods comprises fitting the mouth of the sack over the outlet (12) of a filling machine so that a section (52) overlaps it. This is then clamped and the sack filled. A gripper (24) is then used to partially remove the neck of the sack from the inlet and the sack is sealed. Independent claims are included for: (A) the gripper system;and (B) a machine for carrying out the method.
