A mortiser tool comprising a drill bit 2, a cutting element 3 mounted around the drill bit and motor means, in which said motor means rotates the drill bit and provides a reciprocating action to the cutting element. Preferably the drill bit rotates independently of the cutting element, and the motor means is a hammer drill. The cutting element may comprise a sleeve, from which a handle 6 extends radially. Preferably a second body portion 8 of the drill bit strikes a first body portion 5 of the sleeve, and the drill bit and the cutting element may undergo non-synchronous reciprocal movement with respect to one another. |
