A process for the preparation of drospirenone

A process is described for preparing drospirenone, a synthetic steroid with progestogenic, antimineralocorticoid and antiandrogenic activity, useful for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions with contraceptive action, starting from 5,6 beta -epoxy-7 beta -hydroxy-15 beta ,16 beta -methylene-3 beta -pivaloyloxy-5 beta -androstan-17-one.
