<p>A female connector has a body 21 and a shield 11 covering the body, the shield 11 having projections 17a, 17b, 20a, 20b formed by cutting and bending. The projections engage a counterpart (not shown) upon mating so as to take some of the mating force, thereby lessening the force taken by contacts of the female connector. The projections 17a, 17b, 20a, 20b may be bent perpendicularly to the mating direction and may lie loosely in corresponding cut-outs (e.g. 30a, 30b) in the body. Projections 18a, 18b on ones side of the shield may be spaced differently from those on the other.</p> |
