725,734. Spade handles. SANDSTROM, E. G. F. April 30, 1953, No. 11937/53. Class 61. A wooden spade handle comprises a shank 16 and a grip 18 united by glued joints. The shank has annular concentric projections 20 of wedge shaped longitudinal section which fit into complementary recesses in the handle. A central pin 32 on the grip member extends into a recess 34 in the shank. Blanks having rather larger transverse dimensions than the finished handle are sawn out of plank pieces, glue is applied to either one or both the blanks by a die and the blanks pressed together in a hydraulic press. |
