The ring (1) which can be accommodated in a gear switch transmission unit and used for dual synchronizing, is stamped out of a sheet of metal in a first step. Several small rectangular segments (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) are arranged around the outer edge. A pliable plastic layer with a porous upper surface is attached to the plane ring (2) serving as a base for a friction coating (9, 10) applied in a third step. The ring (1) provided with both layers is now converted into its final, conical shape.
