The toothed rack (13) is mounted longitudinally displaceable in the steering housing to mesh with a pinion and pressure member (14) . The pressure member has on the inside a guide roller (15) with support face formed as at least one recess (13.2) lying inside the toothed rack. The recess can be semi-circular or V-shaped. The guide roller is mounted rotatable in the pressure member through a needle bearing (17) held by the support axis (16).
