The invention provides an electric fireplace flame simulating rotator with light-emitting cooling flanged slots, comprising a light source mounted within a rotatable hollow cylinder, the cylinder having a multiplicity of large flanged slots in a middle portion of the cylinder, and a multiplicity of narrower flanged slots toward each end o f the cylinder, that disperse heat from the light source and through which light can be emitted from a light source to simulate larger central flames and smaller more flickering flames toward each end of the cylinder upon the cylinder being rotated about the light source, while cooling the light source by circulating more air in the middle portion of th e cylinder.
