An alignment system for a printing press has sensors (12) on every plate roller (4) and linked to a processor (13) which generates position correction signals to align the separate colour print systems. Special registration markings on the rollers also provide information on the type of print. The registration markings can be matrix codes and the sensors can be CCD cameras.
